Working Days Calculator

Working days (business days) are weekdays typically counted as Monday through Friday, excluding weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and optionally public holidays. The count measures productive days for project timelines, shipping estimates, legal notice periods, and SLA calculations — contexts where weekends do not advance the clock.

Example: working days from Monday, June 1, 2026 to Friday, June 12, 2026. June 1 (Mon) through June 12 (Fri) spans 12 calendar days but only 10 working days — the two weekends (Sat–Sun) are excluded. Inclusively counting both endpoints: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri = 10 working days. Calendar days in the same span: 12.

Adding working days skips non-business days. Start Monday, June 1, 2026 and add 10 working days: day 1 = Jun 1 (Mon), day 5 = Jun 5 (Fri), day 6 = Jun 8 (Mon, skipping the weekend), day 10 = Jun 12 (Fri). The result is June 12, 2026. Adding 5 working days from Wednesday, June 3 lands on Wednesday, June 10 — one weekend skipped.

Holiday exclusion varies by country and employer. U.S. federal holidays (10 per year) remove additional days beyond weekends. A project spanning Thanksgiving week loses both the Thursday holiday and the adjacent weekend. Custom holiday lists let you match your organization's calendar. Without holiday data, the calculator excludes weekends only — the most common baseline.
