How to convert atmospheres to psi
Atmospheres (atm) and PSI both measure pressure relative to Earth's sea-level atmosphere. One standard atmosphere equals 14.6959 PSI (or 101,325 pascals). 'Atmosphere' is convenient for relative pressure expressions.
Multiply atm by 14.6959 to get PSI. Formula: psi = atm × 14.6959. 1 atm = 14.7 PSI. 2 atm (scuba at 10 m depth) = 29.4 PSI. 3 atm = 44.1 PSI.
Scuba diving (pressure increases 1 atm per 10 m depth), vacuum pump ratings, and chemical reaction conditions reference atmospheres.
Sea-level standard: 1 atm = 14.7 psi = 1.013 bar = 101.3 kPa = 760 mmHg.
